About This Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Operations Specialist to join our team in the New York State region. In this role, you will be responsible for conducting on-site evaluations of laboratory staff qualifications and testing procedures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Inspect clinical laboratories, blood banks, patient service centers, and specialized facilities performing testing activities within New York State, and laboratories outside the state that accept specimens originating from New York State.
  • Conduct on-site evaluations of laboratory staff qualifications and testing procedures, including evaluation of facility standard operating procedure manuals and review of laboratory records.
  • Report findings to laboratory directors and technical staff, document findings in descriptive narratives, and prepare laboratory evaluation reports.
  • Determine the acceptance of a facility's proposed remediation by reviewing the plan of correction.
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A bachelor's degree in medical technology or a chemical or biological science, with three years of post-bachelor's professional experience in a laboratory that tests clinical specimens or environmental samples, tissue bank, blood bank, or physician practice.
  • Knowledge of clinical laboratory testing, quality assurance, audits, and applicable New York State laws and regulations.
  • Excellent written, verbal communication, and computer skills.
  • Ability to work independently and travel to laboratories accepting specimens originating from New York State.
Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience with inspections, quality control, and regulatory compliance is a plus. You should also be well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to prioritize tasks effectively.

Compensation and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this role is $80,000 - $110,000, depending on experience. Benefits include health insurance, retirement savings plan, and paid time off.
