North Canberra Hospital, formerly Calvary Public Hospital Bruce, is now part of Canberra Health Services (CHS). This significant milestone marks a major step towards delivering a new billion-dollar hospital on Canberra's Northside.
The current hospital provides a range of acute and sub-acute services, including community-based care to residents of Canberra's northside and Southern NSW. With 270 beds, North Canberra Hospital operates a 24-hour Emergency Department and offers inpatient services such as general medicine, surgery, maternity, mental health, and critical care.
The hospital also provides day surgery, specialist outpatient clinics, Hospital in the Home, and the Geriatric Rapid Acute Care Evaluation service that reaches into aged care facilities across the ACT.
A new state-of-the-art hospital will be built on the existing campus in Bruce, providing more beds and increased services. Until then, it's business as usual at North Canberra Hospital, with a focus on delivering high-quality care to patients and the community.
About the RoleThe Medical Imaging department supports the hospital's extensive medical, surgical, maternity, and emergency services. The department offers private referrals from GP and specialist clinics, and sonographers work collaboratively to provide high-quality diagnostic scans and maintain sonographer health and safety.
The Ultrasound department runs a 24-hour service, including weekend and public holiday shifts, with an on-call service outside core hours. Sonographers can expect a predominant workload of general, small parts, obstetric, and gynaecologic scans, with training available for successful candidates where required.
