Empowering Communities through Financial Literacy

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Financial Capability Professional to join our team at The Salvation Army.

About the Role:

This is an exciting opportunity to work with our Moneycare Program, which aims to alleviate financial hardship by supporting individuals in building longer-term financial capability. As a key member of our Community Support Service network, you will provide financial literacy education and one-on-one budgeting support to eligible individuals, as well as non-accredited community education workshops.

Your primary purpose will be to empower people to build skills and knowledge to manage their finances effectively, making informed choices about their money in the future. You will also play a vital role in improving employment readiness by supporting individuals in developing essential financial knowledge and skills.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver high-quality financial literacy education workshops, focusing on empowering participants to plan for their long-term financial futures.
  • Assist community members in accessing additional support services and establishing community connections as needed.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records and data, adhering to The Salvation Army's standards and procedures.
  • Collaborate with community members to build strong relationships, fostering independence and participation without judgment.
  • Promote quality improvement through community feedback and individual input, encouraging participation in team efforts and review processes.
Requirements:

To succeed in this role, you will need:

  • A strong understanding of financial literacy education principles and practices.
  • Experience working with diverse communities, particularly those who may face financial challenges.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people from various backgrounds and cultures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, enabling you to build trust and rapport with clients.
  • An Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander identity, aligning with the specific requirements of this role.
  • A current national police record check and relevant state Working With Children Check.
  • A valid driver's license, if travel is required for outreach services.

$65,000 - $75,000 per annum (dependent on experience)
