Senior CSA Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior CSA Engineer to join our team in Devonport (Plymouth). The successful candidate will assist and support the Design Manager in delivering project scope, undertaking civil/structural engineering work packages, and managing technical aspects of engineering packages.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver civil/structural engineering work packages to required scope, quality, schedule, and cost.
  • Manage technical aspects of engineering packages from identification to handover.
  • Manage one or more technical design packages, agreeing project-related objectives, managing designer performance, and making technical management responses.
  • Provide advice as per discipline.
  • Ensure design documentation covers scope of operations required by Project Manager and is produced to agreed standards, schedule, and budget.
  • Ensure effective Quality Management Arrangements, operating and delivering through compliance with our clients Business Management System and Technical Manual.
  • Ensure staff and contractors are familiar with hazards and risks associated with work undertaken by delegated engineering team through effective management and communication of Risk Assessment.
Requirements:
  • Design and substantiation of heavy civil engineering and building structures, with particular experience in dock structures preferred.
  • Knowledge of architectural design of industrial buildings.
  • Knowledge of building services design and installation.
  • Preferably experience of relevant seismic codes for satisfying Nuclear Safety Functions.
  • Preferably knowledge of construction techniques employed for Nuclear Safety related structures and buildings.
  • Demonstrate relevant knowledge and skills required in technical management of complex design development throughout design lifecycle.
  • A track record in Structural/Civil design in a comparable environment.
  • Experience working in a multi-discipline environment with multiple interfaces.
  • Sound understanding of engineering design and safety practice as relevant to discipline, post, and project requirements.
  • Sound understanding of procedures relating to Design, Health & Safety, and Quality requirements, and ability to manage projects in accordance with these procedures.
Qualifications:
  • The candidate will have a degree or equivalent in a Civil or Structural engineering related discipline.
  • Preferably Chartered Engineer status and member of a relevant institution or significant demonstrable engineering experience and capable of registration with the Engineering Council at CEng level.
