Financial Strategist

We are seeking a seasoned financial leader to spearhead our finance operations in Sydney, Australia.

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensuring the proactive identification and management of risks related to safety matters, including regular safety observation rounds and adherence to Vopak Safety Standards.
  • Providing support to Management of Change processes, ensuring the prevention of pollution and compliance with environmental regulations.
  • Understanding and supporting corporate requirements and initiatives related to health, safety, and environment.
Management Team Obligations
  • Contributing to strategic planning for Vopak Australia and actively participating in weekly meetings.
  • Setting an example in behavior, especially in Safety and Environment, and acting as a functional counterpart for divisional management or corporate departments.
  • Providing input on strategy development and supporting data analysis for strategic decisions, as well as supporting risk management, insurance, and project financial evaluations.
  • Ensuring alignment with governance and internal controls, managing financial reporting, budgeting, and company secretarial functions.
  • Monitoring financial performance, conducting variance analyses, and overseeing tax compliance.
  • Leading financial planning, capital expenditure monitoring, and business case reviews.
Cost and Customer Governance
  • Identifying opportunities for cost savings and synergies and managing customer relationships, claims, and developing customer budgets.
People and Quality Leadership
  • Leading and developing the finance team with a focus on continuous improvement and conducting performance reviews, setting objectives, and ensuring high employee engagement.
  • Promoting quality management and ensuring compliance with QMS requirements.
Skills and Competencies
  • Completing annual safety, health, and environmental management tasks and implementing governance actions and stock management procedures.
  • Achieving cost management and safety performance targets and maintaining compliance and improving leadership practices annually.
Experience and Qualifications
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in a senior finance leadership role, with experience in the chemical and fuel industry being beneficial.
  • Relevant experience in risk management and team leadership is required.
