Associate in Technology, Media and Telecommunications

This is a long-term, full-time opportunity to be part of our team that deals with Technology, Media & Telecommunications (TMT) matters based in Sydney, Melbourne or Brisbane offices.

As an Associate on our TMT team, you will be involved in a variety of transactional, regulatory, governance and incident management tasks including:

  • TMT Services - major commercial projects, regulatory requirements, infrastructure development, services arrangements and major mergers and acquisitions transactions.
  • Data Governance - data governance and regulatory advice, data commercialization, engagement with regulators, large-scale compliance uplifts, and investments in and acquisitions of artificial intelligence companies.
  • Cybersecurity - responding to cyber incidents, engaging with law enforcement, government agencies and regulators (including on formal investigations and other regulatory enforcement actions), advising on cybersecurity regulatory requirements, facilitating and participating in cybersecurity simulations, and assisting with other cybersecurity preparedness activities.
  • Outsourcing - technology and business process outsourcing and vendor management.
  • Corporate Transactions - business separations and systems integrations and advising on complex corporate carve outs.
  • Digital Transformation - digital transformation projects.
  • Startups and Innovation - tech and data advisory and transaction work for clients at all stages of their lifecycle, including work on capital raises.
  • Media Matters - regulatory matters and broadcasting rights deals.

The role requires experience in a TMT team within a top-tier law firm, ideally with a focus on TMT work rather than intellectual property matters. You should have experience, understanding, and interest in Australian privacy, data protection, and cybersecurity matters and advice. Additionally, you should have Australia or other common law jurisdiction experience, ideally with direct involvement in the drafting and negotiation of a broad range of IT/telecommunications contracts.
