This role plays a pivotal part in ensuring proactive oversight and management of aviation safety within our maintenance organisation.
About The RoleA senior position requiring a highly experienced aviation safety professional to drive safety excellence in maintenance organisations. This individual will work closely with leadership to enhance and mature aviation safety management policies, risk management strategies, assurance practices, and safety culture across the Maintenance function in Australia and New Zealand.
Key Responsibilities- Risk Management: Identify, assess, and manage aviation safety risks to ensure controls are effective and risks are minimised; Verify mitigation effectiveness and monitor safety outcomes;
- Safety Assurance: Mature and integrate Maintenance policies with the Integrated Safety Management System (iSMS) and Defence and Civil SMS regulations;
- Safety Promotion: Develop and deliver targeted aviation safety training, promotion, and communication strategies; Drive positive aviation safety culture and behaviours across the Maintenance function;
- Leadership and Advisory: Advise Accountable Managers and the Senior Manager Aviation Safety on all safety management matters; Interface with regulators (e.g., CASA, DASA) and ensure regulatory compliance.
To be successful in this role, you should have experience in aircraft maintenance engineering (Part 145 or equivalent); have operational knowledge of aviation sustainment operations; and have strong analytical and strategic problem-solving skills. Other key qualifications include:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in aviation safety roles within the aviation industry;
- Strong understanding of aviation regulations (DASA, CASA, EASA, EMAR, CAA, DAA);
- Proven ability to build collaborative relationships and manage conflicting priorities in a matrix organisation.
