About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Urban Planner to join our team at AECOM. As a key member of our Urbanism + Planning team, you will play a critical role in shaping the future of Queensland through significant planning and development projects.

As a Senior Urban Planner, you will have the opportunity to work on a wide range of development facilitation projects for the public and private sectors, including urban renewal and precinct plans, revitalisation strategies for regional cities, planning scheme reviews, and large infrastructure projects.

You will be responsible for leading various strategic planning projects across regional planning initiatives, precinct, and master planning, providing technical oversight, and ensuring projects run to schedule and budget, delivering high-quality outcomes for our clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interpret and apply planning legislation and planning schemes across various multi-disciplinary projects, standalone planning advisory projects, and technical studies.
  • Lead strategic planning projects, providing technical oversight, and ensuring projects meet schedule and budget requirements.
  • Deliver high-quality project outcomes, generate future business for the local planning team, and actively participate in the development of high-quality fee proposals and bids.
  • Mentor junior planners, aiding with their professional and technical development.
Requirements
  • Degree in Town/Urban Planning (or similar) with 8+ years of strategic town planning experience for a consultancy or Government Department (or both).
  • Demonstrated experience in preparation of planning strategies, planning schemes/policies, business cases, and development applications.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary project teams, exploring new concepts and techniques to provide solutions to clients.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate with internal and external stakeholders at varying levels of seniority.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, with experience in ArcGIS and Adobe Creative Suite (advantageous, not essential).
