Job Title: Horse Care Specialist

About the Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced horse care professional to join our team. As a full-time nurse, you will work closely with our veterinarians to provide high-standard veterinary care to horses.

The successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, be motivated and reliable, and be able to work effectively as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

Your duties will include:

  • Assisting veterinarians with appointments, trot ups, lunging, radiography, and horse restraint
  • Surgical nursing, field anaesthesia, patient recovery, overnight nursing, equipment sterilization, grooming, maintaining clean stables, and lab blood sampling
  • Monitoring and treating hospitalized patients, recording vital signs, and administering medications
  • Handling triage and critical care in emergency situations, including newborn foals
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • Safe working techniques
  • Cert IV in vet nursing or equivalent experience
  • Confidence in administering medications
  • Excellent communication and record-keeping skills
