About the Workplace Health and Safety Role
The Department of Education prioritizes employee, student, and community well-being. As a Workplace Health and Safety Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in promoting health and safety within schools and workplaces.
Key Responsibilities:- Provide guidance and advice on health and safety matters.
- Collaborate with school staff, regional health and safety teams, and the Organizational Safety Unit to implement departmental health, safety, and wellbeing strategies.
- Facilitate incident reporting, hazard identification, and risk assessment to ensure staff, students, contractors, and visitors are safe.
- Support staff in undertaking relevant actions related to health concerns that may impact their fitness for work.
- Ensure regulatory compliance with emergency response plans and facilitate staff wellbeing action plans.
- Partner with health and safety staff to complete annual safety assessments.
- Briefly attach a resume including contact details for two professional referees.
- Submit a 2-page written statement responding to the attached role description.
Note: Applications remain current for 12 months from the closing date and may be considered for appointment to similar vacancies within the department. A current Working with Children Clearance is required.
