Release Manager Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the role of Release Manager. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of software development methodologies, tools, practices, and approaches.

This position is multifaceted and requires an individual with a unique blend of technical expertise and leadership skills. The successful candidate will work on a nationally significant project focused on developing a data processing platform that drives one of the most visited websites in Australia.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate releases into production and non-production environments, ensuring consistency, repeatability, improvement, and speed in support of agile work practices.
  • Oversight of process documentation and release processes to guarantee understanding between teams and adherence to security and recoverability requirements.
  • Prepare and coordinate change requests and represent changes at the Change Advisory Board (CAB).
  • Build relationships with key stakeholders, including Operations, Development, and architecture teams, and customer stakeholders.
  • Provide high-quality advice, guidance, and support in the release and environment management process for project management and risk and compliance.
  • Identify automation opportunities and drive efficiency into teams' tasking.
  • Provide a centralized and consistent source of knowledge on activities undertaken by the team.
  • Design, implement, and manage a system of workload allocation within the team, tracking, and monitoring various processes and providing periodic reporting on release outcomes.
  • Ensure scrum teams follow defined Agile delivery rhythms.
  • Maintain collaboration tools hosted on various environments.

About You and What You'll Bring:

  • A passion for software development and problem-solving through coding.
  • Ability to adapt to change and pivot when required.
  • Hands-on experience in delivering a variety of software solutions.
  • Experience in designing and implementing DevSecOps approaches to software development.
  • Familiarity with relevant technologies, including Java, NiFi, Ansible, Spring, Python, PostgreSQL.
  • Familiarity with technical domains, including geospatial technologies, data management, automated build and deployments, cloud technologies.
  • Hands-on experience in setting up software development tool-chains, including configuration management tools, artefact management tools, code quality and security analysis tools, automated testing tools, integrated software development environments, continuous integration tools, collaboration tools, and software and architecture modelling tools.
  • Understanding and use of appropriate modelling approaches, including logical models of components, modules, and interfaces, to contribute to the development of systems and software architectures in specific business or functional areas.
  • Qualifications in the latest iteration of ITIL preferred but not essential.
  • Preferred understanding of ITIL Processes and how Release Management integrates with other ITIL Processes.
  • Inquisitive attitude, willing to ask if there is a better way of operating.
  • Self-motivated and driven to achieve deliverables and positive outcomes.
