Mentor Position Overview

As a dedicated mentor, you will be responsible for guiding and supporting parents and carers of children under the age of six with their employment, educational, and career journeys.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Connect participants with essential resources such as childcare, housing, financial aid, and educational resources to promote their well-being and employability.
  • Provide expert advice on employment searches, resume preparation, and interview skills to ensure participants are aware of, understand, and adhere to their compliance requirements and obligations.
  • Develop personalized action plans that address unique needs and aspirations of each participant and facilitate them in following through on these tailored plans.
  • Facilitate workshops and group sessions to provide additional support and foster a sense of community among participants.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of appointments and client communication in accordance with contractual requirements.
  • Promote program goals and contribute to its continuous improvement and success by achieving organisational KPIs.
Requirements:
  • Demonstrated experience in mentoring, coaching, or providing support services, particularly with working parents, carers, or students.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect and build rapport with diverse participants.
  • A high level of computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office suites and other government programs.
  • Sensitivity to and understanding of the diverse cultural backgrounds and experiences of participants.
  • Familiarity with community resources and services available to parents and carers, including childcare, housing, and financial aid.
  • Ability to interpret various guidelines and work within frameworks.
  • Highly motivated to achieve general employment and training outcomes for participants and organisation's performance and KPI goals.
  • A recent, clear National Police Check and current QLD Blue Card.
  • A certificate IV or higher in qualification, in Employment Services and/or Community Services or similar (desirable).
