Electron Microscopy Specialist Role

The Australian National University's Centre for Advanced Microscopy is seeking an accomplished Electron Microscopy Specialist to contribute to groundbreaking life sciences research. The successful candidate will provide expert sample preparation, imaging, and technical assistance utilizing transmission and scanning electron microscopes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare biological samples for high-resolution imaging using transmission and scanning electron microscopy techniques
  • Operate complex EM equipment and ensure its optimal operation
  • Develop and optimize EM workflows to enhance efficiency and productivity
  • Train and mentor clients on advanced EM techniques and best practices
  • Collaborate with researchers on experimental design, data analysis, and interpretation of results

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in a relevant life science discipline
  • Extensive experience in electron microscopy within a life science context
  • Advanced skills in transmission and scanning electron microscopy techniques, including sample preparation and imaging optimization
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, with ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with ability to present complex scientific information effectively
