Plant Pathologist Position Available
About the OpportunityWe are seeking a plant pathologist to join our team at the University of Sydney.
The university has world-class strengths in basic and translational plant science, including plant pathology, breeding and genetics, agronomy, molecular biology, developmental biology, plant physiology, and digital agriculture.
Our research groups focus on plant pathology, diagnostics, epidemiology, biosecurity, and disease management with an emphasis on horticulture, crops, or environmental sustainability and resilience.
The successful candidate will have expertise in teaching, research, and publication, commensurate with an early/mid-career scientist on a rising trajectory.
The ideal candidate will have a track record of success in collaboration nationally and internationally and be able to articulate a vision for innovative collaborations within our institution and beyond.
Interdisciplinary research is encouraged, and we welcome candidates who can demonstrate a strong commitment to promoting teaching and learning.
About YouTo be considered for this position, you should have:
- a PhD or equivalent in plant pathology or a related field
- demonstrated research excellence in plant pathology through national and international collaborations and publications
- experience in securing research funding
- teaching experience in plant pathology, including lectures, tutorials, and supervision of laboratory and field-based practical work
- successful supervision experience, including Honours and Higher Degree by Research students
- excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills, as well as time management skills
- demonstrated understanding and experience of relevant work health and safety issues, including laboratory and field-based work
