About the Role

MinterEllison is seeking an experienced Practice Team Leader to join our national Disputes Competition & Insurance (DCI) Line of Business (LoB). As a key member of the DCI national leadership team, you will work alongside Business Unit Leaders and Partners to lead and build a high-performing legal and consulting support team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the administrative function of the DCI LoB, including Dispute Resolution, Insurance & Corporate Risk, and Competition, Climate & Technology Business Units in Canberra, Brisbane, and Perth.
  • Work with Partners to deliver strategic outcomes for their administration support, in line with the firm's and legal and consulting support strategy.
  • Actively build trusting relationships with teams across the firm.
  • Collaborate, escalate, resolve, and drive consistent administration support service delivery and processes.
  • Manage approvals for the administration team in consultation with Partners to ensure adequate resourcing.
  • Manage ongoing resourcing requirements, including end-to-end recruitment and the onboarding process.
  • Active management and compliance in relation to the Legal Services Award.
  • Collaborate with PTL colleagues to facilitate knowledge sharing and continuous improvement opportunities.

Requirements

  • Proven people leadership experience and ability to engage a team of administrators working in an agile way.
  • Previous 5+ years' experience as a Legal Secretary/Executive Assistant in a Legal & Consulting or professional services firm.
  • Ability to quickly develop authentic and enduring relationships with Partners and key stakeholders and establish credibility and rapport.
  • Strong commercial acumen, strategic thinking, discernment, and problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage competing priorities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to adapt communications to suit audience.
  • Ability to manage challenging conversations, influence, and negotiate positive outcomes.
  • Ability to adapt and be flexible to meet changing requirements and needs.
  • Ability to create and maintain an inclusive and positive team environment.
