About the Gastroenterology Department:

The department is part of a larger division and is responsible for delivering specialist services to patients across Austin Health.

Emergency and inpatient services are based at Austin Hospital, while outpatient clinics and endoscopy services operate at both the Austin Hospital and Heidelberg Repatriation Hospital.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality gastroenterology and hepatology care across different settings.
  • Participate in ward rounds, clinics, and consultative services.
  • Engage with a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals.
  • Support teaching activities for junior medical staff and students.
  • Contribute to clinical audit and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in on-call rosters as required.

Requirements:

  • General Registration with AHPRA (or eligibility).
  • At least 3 years postgraduate clinical experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in Gastroenterology (at registrar level).
  • A strong commitment to high-quality patient-centred care.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Interest in research and teaching.
  • Australian citizenship or permanent residency.
