Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our Central Queensland team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for servicing our fleet of heavy vehicles and equipment, ensuring they are in top condition to meet the demands of our expanding businesses.

Key Responsibilities

  • Continuous Improvement: Implement and maintain safe work practices to ensure a safe working environment for all employees.
  • Routine Servicing: Perform routine maintenance and servicing of plant and equipment to ensure optimal performance and extend their lifespan.
  • Liaising with Managers: Collaborate with direct managers and supervisors to ensure effective communication and coordination of tasks.
  • Asset Repairs: Diagnose and repair faults in heavy vehicles and equipment, ensuring minimal downtime and maximum productivity.
  • Breakdown Repairs: Assess and carry out repairs on breakdowns, prioritizing tasks to minimize downtime and ensure business continuity.
  • Asset Condition Reports: Conduct regular inspections and prepare reports on the condition of assets, identifying areas for improvement and recommending maintenance schedules.
  • Lean Practices: Adopt and implement Lean practices to ensure quality and cost efficiency in all repairs and maintenance activities.
  • Tool and Equipment Maintenance: Maintain company tools and equipment, ensuring they are in good working condition and available for use.
  • Major Repairs: Oversee major repairs, ensuring they are completed efficiently and to a high standard, while maintaining a clean and safe working environment.
  • Communication: Maintain professional and clear communication with all company staff, ensuring effective collaboration and teamwork.

Essential Requirements

  • Valid Driver's Licence: Hold a valid driver's licence to operate heavy vehicles and equipment.
  • Relevant Certificates: Possess relevant Australian recognised Heavy Diesel Mechanic certificates.
  • Experience: Have experience in multiple fields, including mobile plant and highway trucks.
  • Work Ethic: Demonstrate an outstanding work ethic and commitment to getting the job done.
  • Work Health and Safety: Have a strong commitment to Work Health and Safety and a proven track record of maintaining a safe working environment.
  • People Management: Be a personable and approachable individual with excellent people management skills.
  • Team Player: Be a team player who is action-focused and result-oriented, with the ability to quickly come up to speed on repairs and priority breakdowns.
  • Problem Solving: Have the ability to problem-solve and engage peers to achieve the best possible outcomes.
  • Communication Skills: Possess strong communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with a range of individuals.
  • Flexibility: Be able to work flexible hours to meet the demands of the business.
