Construction Safety Oversight Specialist

We are seeking an experienced consulting Construction Safety Oversight Specialist to provide on-site observation of construction activities from an Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) perspective.

Responsibilities:
  • On-site observation of construction activities to ensure health and safety compliance with applicable regulations and existing company standards.
  • Documentation of activities with respect to required EHS performance.
  • Training of on-site Client staff on EHS oversight program requirements.
  • Training of on-site subcontractors on EHS oversight program requirements.
  • Assistance in administering project directives given by the Client's EH&S personnel throughout the project.
  • Reporting on whether project staff and trade contractors are complying with the Client's safety procedures and working in accordance with the approved project-specific safety plan.
  • Maintenance of required safety-related documentation on the project site including but not limited to safety orientation training, Job Hazard Analyses (JHA), SDSs, pre-task assessments, and toolbox talk summaries.
  • Participation in daily pre-shift coordination meetings to include review of the day's activities and associated hazards.
  • Review and comment on the General Contractor's JHAs with project trades and obtain signatures prior to commencement of work.
  • Conducting daily site inspections focusing on work site orderliness and compliance with safety procedures and protocols.
Requirements:
  • An Associate's degree in construction management, safety or occupational health and safety or a related degree is preferred.
  • 8+ years of full-time on-site experience in construction-specific project health & safety leadership.
  • Certification in field such as CHST, ASP/CSP, CIH, PE or similar registration is highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA General Industry and construction standards.
  • A strong commitment to safety including implementing strict Health and Safety protocols.
  • Completed training and certifications for HAZWOPER, DOT basic Hazmat awareness, OSHA 30-hour construction, confined space entry training, and fall protection/prevention training.
  • Strong initiative self-starter problem-solving and communication skills and attention to detail and QA/QC.
  • The ability to multi-task maintain flexibility travel and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • The ability to provide excellent project delivery and client service quality on project deliverables and organizational skills.
  • The ability to organize and coordinate field personnel subcontractors and vendors.
