About the Role

The Terminal Procedures Specialist plays a crucial part in a small team within Aeronautical Information Service - Air Force (AIS-AF) responsible for designing and coding Instrument Flight Procedures and generating navigation database products.

Instrument Flight Procedures (IFP) are designed and coded in accordance with international standards, provided in both electronic and paper formats, and widely used by Australian Defence Force (ADF) personnel in support of flying operations globally. AIS-AF's digital products are updated every 28 days and provided in various data formats for use in aircraft flight management systems, flight simulators, and air traffic management applications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and code Instrument Flight Procedures in accordance with international standards
  • Generate navigation database products
  • Collaborate with the team to meet International Civil Aviation Organisation distribution cycles and Australian Defence Force contingencies
  • Ensure a seamless production process from sourcing flight critical aeronautical information through product compilation, to publication, and ultimately product distribution
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have a high level of personal drive, demonstrate experience working collaboratively in a supportive team environment, and be willing to learn and be challenged.

You will also have the ability to interpret relevant international standards, apply these to design processes, and verify compliance to such standards. Experience in a technical aviation-related role would be advantageous, and candidates who have completed an aviation-related STEM Degree are encouraged to apply.
