Instrumentation Technician Job Overview

At a state-of-the-art facility in Melbourne, skilled Instrumentation Technicians are needed to play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of equipment and processes.


This position involves fault correction, calibration, preventative maintenance, and overhaul of instrumentation and control equipment. Initially, the successful candidate will work on a 10-day fortnight to commission our new facility, followed by a rotating 12-hour shift pattern including day and night shifts to support production.


Key Responsibilities
  • Shut down, isolate, and test run machines and equipment for maintenance purposes.
  • Diagnose faults, repair, and calibrate control and monitoring loop elements, electronic systems, and sub-assemblies.
  • Diagnose faults on interconnected and non-interconnected electrical circuits and systems.
  • Perform routine calibration of process instruments, both in-situ and in the workshop.
  • Perform preventive maintenance tasks.
  • Interpret control system and electrical/electronic circuit diagrams and engineering drawings, and prepare sketches of system and circuit modifications.
  • Maintain workshop equipment and any reference calibration instruments in a state suitable for use in a GMP environment.
  • Other tasks include assisting in maintaining the integrity of the SAP Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), engineering stores, and performing tasks such as work planning, scheduled servicing, breakdowns, shutdowns, commissioning, and test running machines and equipment.
