Overview

We are seeking an accomplished Senior Digital Solutions Specialist to join our team at Switch. The successful candidate will have a proven track record in delivering high-quality digital solutions in the enterprise space.

The ideal candidate will possess a broad technical skillset and extensive experience in this industry. As a Senior Digital Solutions Specialist, you will play a critical role in helping us deliver successful outcomes and value for our customers.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Assist in technical discovery, design, and execution of projects to ensure they are developed according to best practices and align with Switch development standards.
  2. Participate in project planning to ensure alignment with commercial terms and utilize the standardized Switch IT methodology.
  3. Collaborate with Technical Directors and Project Managers to maximize efficiency, quality, and utilization of delivery teams.
  4. Assist Project and Account Managers in communicating technical complexities to customers in a non-technical manner.
  5. Help identify and document risks, issues, actions, dependencies, and decisions (RAID) for projects, including communication and execution of planned mitigation steps.
  6. Identify, document, and resolve application issues and outages both in and out of office hours.
  7. Collaborate with project managers, experience designers, solution architects, technical leads, and clients.
  8. Contribute to designing and developing software solutions that solve complex problems using design patterns and principles.
  9. Contribute to documenting system architecture and technical designs.
  10. Identify conflicts between team members and disciplines and escalate to the Technical Director.
  11. Contribute to team meetings.
  12. Assist with code reviews.
  13. Able to work and troubleshoot autonomously.
  14. Apply Switch methodology standards to projects and contribute to ongoing continuous improvement activities for the methodology and internal processes.

Experience

Essential

  1. Able to provide a clear, trusted technical voice to both internal and external customers.
  2. Able to assist with performing technical discovery, solution design, and project execution to a high level of quality.
  3. Able to contribute to planning discussions at both tactical and strategic levels.
  4. Minimum 3 years of software development experience using .NET.
  5. Some exposure to Cloud technologies (AWS and/or Azure).
  6. Some exposure to external integrations.
  7. Understanding of Docker and/or Kubernetes.
  8. Understanding of modern frontend technologies.

Desirable

  1. Experience using CMS solutions such as Sitecore, Umbraco, Kentico, EpiServer, AEM, WordPress.
  2. Experience with DevOps using one or more of the following: Azure DevOps, TeamCity, Octopus, Jenkins.
  3. Experience with front-end frameworks such as Vue, React, or Angular.
  4. Experience using SASS.
  5. Experience using TypeScript.
  6. Experience using NodeJS and NodeJS task runners such as Gulp or Grunt.
  7. Experience using scripting languages (e.g., PowerShell).
  8. 2+ years of experience with unit testing practices and methodologies.

Skills

  1. Able to write code applying best practice security principles (protecting against XSS, DDoS, SQL Injection attacks).
  2. Able to write code using design principles (SOLID, YAGNI, KISS, and DRY).
  3. Able to write code that uses software design patterns.
  4. 3+ years of experience in successfully implementing web development projects in complex, fast-moving environments using agile and blended approaches for a digital agency or professional services organization.
  5. In-depth understanding of Agile and Traditional SDLCs and an appreciation of how these can be blended to tailor delivery to suit the needs of individual projects.
  6. Implementing digital solutions based on CMS and eCommerce platforms.
  7. Excellent oral and written communication.
  8. A balanced business and technical background and comfortable managing senior stakeholders from either domain.
  9. Facilitating team planning and estimation using Scrum.
  10. Good understanding of the use of traditional project management artefacts (schedules, RAID log, etc.) and how these complement agile tools.
  11. Creating professional documentation using MS Office and Google Apps.
  12. Requirements Workshop Facilitation.
  13. Excellent time management skills.

Performance Goals

  1. Deliver projects on time and on budget that employ the Switch methodology.
  2. In conjunction with the Project Manager, facilitate the delivery of a stable or increasing standardised velocity (i.e., points per resource-day) with velocity remaining stable or increasing when measured across any four-sprint period once the baseline has been established.
  3. Estimates should have an accuracy rate of 80% (+/- 20%).
  4. Contribute towards SwitchIT internal tools/software/methodology/processes.
  5. Project technical deliverables are completed to an acceptable level of quality and in accordance with the project management plan and;
  6. Realisation of project technical outcomes are as defined in the system design and architecture and;
  7. Project technical documentation is accepted by process owners, subject matter experts, and project management and;
  8. The technical scope, design, and timeline of the project are communicated and visible to stakeholders and to other streams as required.
