As a key member of the Perenti Group, we are seeking a highly skilled Lead Technical Mining Expert to join our team. With a strong focus on technical excellence and operational efficiency, this role will play a critical part in driving the success of our global mining operations.

About the Role

This is an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned professional with a background in mining engineering to take their career to the next level. Reporting directly to the Head of Technical Services, you will be responsible for providing expert technical guidance and support across various aspects of our operations.

With a strong track record of delivering results-driven solutions, you will work closely with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement and implement sustainable changes that drive business outcomes. Your expertise in mine design, scheduling, and operational optimisations will be invaluable in helping us achieve our goals.

Your ability to communicate complex ideas effectively and build strong relationships with stakeholders will be essential in ensuring seamless collaboration and stakeholder buy-in.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Provide expert technical guidance and support to operations teams to ensure alignment with company values and policies.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders to promote collaborative working practices.
  • Coach and mentor team members to enhance their skills and knowledge, promoting a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
  • Drive a continuous improvement culture focused on technical effectiveness and operational excellence, identifying opportunities to improve processes and systems.
  • Advise on underground mine design, drill and blast, scheduling, and operational optimisations to ensure optimal performance and efficiency.
  • Provide technical reviews, cost forecasting, resource allocation, life of mine/monthly/weekly progress tracking, and reporting to support informed decision-making.
  • Support the tendering team by reviewing tender schedules and designs to ensure compliance with company standards and regulations.

Required Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor Degree in Mining Engineering (or equivalent).
  • 10 years in-depth technical and operational experience across different mining methods.
  • Minimum of 5 years supervising teams.
  • Technical report writing skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Deswik software experience essential.
  • Experience across various mine design and scheduling software and office suite products.

Estimated Salary: AU$120,000 - AU$180,000 per annum, depending on experience.
