Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our multidisciplinary team at the Mental Health Virtual Care Centre (MHVCC). As a key member of our team, you will play a vital role in providing comprehensive psychiatric assessments, tailored interventions, and collaborative care planning for participants.

The MHVCC is a district-wide service delivering a time-limited, evidence-based mental health rehabilitation program through a flexible mix of virtual and face-to-face care. Our program empowers participants to strengthen their mental health, build resilience, and develop practical skills and support systems to improve daily functioning, quality of life, and overall independence.

As a Consultant Psychiatrist with us, you will work on a part-time basis (0.4 FTE) and be responsible for providing expert medical assessment and management of patients within the department/service. You will also contribute to an innovative model of care that blends clinical excellence with flexibility, accessibility, and person-centred practice.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric assessments and tailored interventions for participants
  • Develop and implement collaborative care plans in line with NICE Guidelines for Mental Health Rehabilitation
  • Work effectively with other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality patient care
  • Contribute to quality improvement activities and research relevant to the role and needs of the department
Requirements:
  • Fellowship of the Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP)
  • Registration or eligible for registration with Medical Board of Australia (AHPRA)
  • Demonstrated subspecialty training in Psychiatry and experience in provision of effective high-quality service in the specialty
  • Proven capacity to work effectively and harmoniously with medical and other healthcare colleagues as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and staff and to work as an effective member of the clinical team across multiple sites
