Regulatory Leadership Opportunity: We are seeking an accomplished and results-driven professional to fill the role of Assistant Secretary Regulation, Licensing and Authorisation within the Australian Nuclear-Powered Submarine Safety Regulator (ANPSSR).

The successful applicant will possess exceptional leadership and management abilities, strong written and verbal communication skills, and a proven track record as a persuasive leader. Key Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate resilience and personal accountability for the quality of advice and delivery of results through engaging, collaborating, and partnering;

About the Role: The ANPSSR will be an independent statutory regulator responsible for regulating the unique circumstances associated with nuclear safety and radiological protection across the lifecycle of Australia's nuclear-powered submarine enterprise.

This includes associated infrastructure and facilities. The Assistant Secretary Regulation, Licensing and Authorisation will facilitate regulation in the areas of facility safety, radiation safety, security standards, and licensing for the ANPSSR.

Selection Criteria: The successful applicant will demonstrate unwavering commitment to nuclear safety and environmental protection, as well as proven thorough knowledge and understanding of regulatory systems, compliance and enforcement frameworks, education and training protocols, security and emergency management frameworks, current national and international nuclear safety frameworks, and the ability to incorporate scientific, engineering, and behavioural reasoning into safety regulation and compliance monitoring.
