THE OPPORTUNITY

We are looking for a highly motivated Research Officer to join our Systems Immunology group at the Garvan Institute of Medical Research. The successful candidate will have a strong background in genomics, data analysis and interpretation, and programming skills.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Conduct original research under limited supervision and make contributions in more than one area, including publication of research in peer-reviewed journals, contribution to team and Garvan research projects, and presentation of original research at national and international conferences.
  • Co-supervise and mentor students and junior research staff, and provide supervisory assistance in the preparation of research grant proposals.

REQUIREMENTS

  • PhD degree in a related area of science or engineering or equivalent experience.
  • Good statistical knowledge and programming skills, including proficiency in at least one scripting language (R, Python).
  • Experience analysing and interpreting genomics data, such as targeted or whole-genome sequencing, RNA-seq, DNA methylation.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
