Environmental Sustainability Specialist

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Environmental Sustainability Specialist to play a key role in our organisation.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in environmental science, engineering or a related field, with 3-5 years of experience in environmental management, preferably within the fuel or energy industry. They should possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement effective environmental management systems to minimize the impact of our operations on the environment.
  • Conduct thorough environmental baseline assessments and risk evaluations to identify potential hazards and areas for improvement.
  • Provide expert advice on best practices for pollution prevention, waste management and environmental conservation.
  • Stay up-to-date with relevant environmental regulations and ensure compliance with local, state and federal laws.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to establish and maintain environmental policies and procedures.
  • Deliver training and guidance to staff to enhance environmental awareness and promote a culture of sustainability.
  • Monitor and report on environmental performance, including air and water quality, emissions and waste disposal practices.
  • Serve as a liaison with regulatory agencies and environmental advocacy groups to address concerns and maintain positive community relations.
  • Participate in emergency response planning and preparedness to mitigate environmental incidents and ensure prompt remediation.

Ideal Attributes:

  • Bachelor's degree in environmental science, engineering or a related field.
  • 3-5 years experience in environmental management, ideally within the fuel or energy industry.
  • Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, environmental impact assessments and sustainability practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and influence diverse stakeholders.
  • Australian citizenship for security clearance purposes.
