Job Title: Radioactive Waste Management Specialist

The Australian Government is seeking a skilled professional to lead and shape the future of radioactive waste management in Australia. This role offers a unique opportunity to work with a dynamic, multidisciplinary team to implement the Government's commitment to safe and secure management of the nation's radioactive waste.

About the Role

This position will be responsible for facilitating effective program planning and coordination to deliver the National Radioactive Waste Management Facility (NRWMF). The successful candidate will coordinate diverse teams across multiple streams, providing strategic advice and direction to ensure the successful delivery of numerous highly complex and simultaneous projects.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement project plans to meet organizational objectives;
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to identify and prioritize project needs and develop solutions;
  • Maintain accurate records and reports to track project progress and identify areas for improvement;
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Significant experience working within a highly regulated environment;
  • Extensive knowledge of and compliance with legislative and policy frameworks, government decision-making and agency guidelines and regulations;
  • Ability to lead negotiations and liaise with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate outcomes;
  • Demonstrated experience in leading a PMO, and influencing colleagues and stakeholders, to meet strategic objectives compliance obligations;
  • High-level ability to reason conceptually, negotiate effectively, resolve complex problems and sensitive issues, to make clear decisions and to initiate action;
  • Understanding and knowledge of Government and issues at the federal level and understanding and knowledge of structures and roles of government agencies;
  • Ability to work with a variety of key stakeholders at commercial, local, state and federal government levels;
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills that foster trust and cooperation, and a proven ability to work effectively and with integrity within a politically sensitive environment;
  • Ability to work in a fluid environment, remaining flexible, agile and adaptable supporting colleagues at short notice.
