
Information Governance Specialist

This role involves utilising your expertise in governance and public access to information. You will work as part of a customer-focused team, with opportunities for flexible working arrangements.
About the PositionThe Information Governance Specialist is responsible for providing guidance and support on governance matters, including policy management, staff delegations, Code of Conduct, and public access to Council information under the Governance Information (Public Access) Act.
Key Responsibilities- Provide professional service to the public and internal staff
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation by providing public access to documents
- Use specialist knowledge to make determinations and prepare correspondence for document access applications
- Certificate III qualification in Business Administration, Recordkeeping, or related field OR demonstrated experience combined with ongoing professional development
- Able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing with staff and the public
- Knowledge of local government legislation and the structure, process, and functions of local government
- Experience in interpreting and applying the GIPA Act and relevant PPIP Act in a public sector environment
