
Senior Hardware System Specialist

The Hardware Sustaining Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting, maintaining and enhancing existing hardware products throughout their lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Product Support & Maintenance:
- Provide engineering support for released hardware products across their lifecycle to ensure optimal performance and functionality.
- Investigate, troubleshoot and resolve hardware failures in production, field and customer environments through meticulous analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Develop and implement effective engineering change orders/product change notices (PCNs) to address design improvements, manufacturing enhancements and component obsolescence, resulting in improved product quality and reduced costs.
- Support supply chain management in evaluating alternate components and managing end-of-life (EOL) parts to minimize disruptions and optimize inventory.
- Manufacturing & Quality Interface:
- Collaborate with manufacturing teams to resolve build and test issues, ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products.
- Support failure analysis, root cause identification and corrective/preventive actions (CAPA) to drive process improvements and reduce waste.
- Work with design engineering and quality teams to maintain compliance with applicable safety, regulatory and industry standards, ensuring product integrity and market competitiveness.
- Product Documentation:
- Maintain and update accurate and comprehensive design documentation, schematics, BOMs and test procedures to facilitate efficient knowledge sharing and innovation.
- Validate and verify design changes through rigorous lab testing and simulations, ensuring reliability and performance.
- Define test plans for verification of new designs, aligning with industry best practices and company standards.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field.
- 3–7 years of experience in hardware design, sustaining engineering or manufacturing support, demonstrating progressive responsibility and leadership.
- Strong knowledge of analog/digital electronics, PCB design and system-level troubleshooting, with a focus on innovative solutions and problem-solving.
- Experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, power analyzers, etc.), utilizing advanced diagnostic tools to identify and resolve complex issues.
- Familiarity with industry standards (UL, FCC, CE, ISO, etc.), ensuring adherence to regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis skills, driving continuous improvement and process optimization.
- Excellent communication skills for cross-team collaboration and reporting, facilitating seamless information exchange and decision-making.
