Role Overview

We are seeking highly skilled individuals to work on the Western Australian Electoral Commission's project, providing a 10,000-strong workforce for the next state election.

About the Role

We have various positions available, including Presiding Officer, Assistant Presiding Officer, Declaration Officer, Early Presiding Officer, Early Assistant Presiding Officer, Early Issuing Officer, Early Counting Officer, Assistant Returning Officer, Mobile Presiding Officer, Mobile Issuing Officer, Remote Presiding Officer, and Remote Issuing Officer. Each role requires strong leadership and organizational skills, with attention to detail and excellent communication abilities.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Presiding Officer: Manage polling place operations, supervise staff, and ensure electoral procedures are followed.
  • Assistant Presiding Officer: Assist the Presiding Officer as needed, manage personnel, election resources, and the polling place.
  • Declaration Officer: Issue declaration votes on polling day to electors who are not on that district's electoral roll.
  • Early Presiding Officer: Manage personnel, election resources, and the polling place during early voting periods.
  • Early Assistant Presiding Officer: Assist the Early Presiding Officer as required, managing personnel, election resources, and the polling place.
  • Early Issuing Officer: Issue ballot papers to electors during early voting periods.
  • Early Counting Officer: Reconcile and count ballot papers during early voting periods.
  • Assistant Returning Officer: Conduct counts, train officers, and record results.
  • Mobile Presiding Officer: Manage mobile polling at aged care facilities, hospitals, locations for homeless individuals, airports, and prisons.
  • Mobile Issuing Officer: Issue ballot papers and assist the Mobile Presiding Officer.
  • Remote Presiding Officer: Manage remote polling in Aboriginal communities.
  • Remote Issuing Officer: Issue ballot papers and assist the Remote Presiding Officer.
Requirements and Qualifications

Candidates must possess excellent leadership, organizational, and communication skills, with attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure. A background in electoral administration or a related field is highly desirable.
