Our Banking & Finance Practice

Our Banking & Finance lawyers understand how to manage the legal and commercial risks inherent in all financial transactions and offer smart, effective solutions to both borrowers and lenders. We advise across the full spectrum of financing transactions, ranging from corporate and property finance to complex structured and project financing matters, solvent and insolvent restructurings, and recapitalizations.

We advise a number of major domestic and international trading and investment banks and financiers. We also advise substantial private family groups, corporates, property developers, private equity, hedge, and special situation funds, fund managers, institutional investors, project sponsors, and underwriters in domestic and cross-border transactions.

We understand that for many of our clients, financing is just one aspect of the deal, and so our teams are resourced to provide legal services across all disciplines required and to seamlessly integrate advice with our property, construction, commercial, insolvency, and tax teams.

The Role

We're looking for an outstanding graduate who is a self-starter with highly developed analytical skills, an eye for detail, and strong interpersonal skills. You have an exceptional legal mind, as well as commercial and strategic nous. You enjoy feeling challenged, and to be given opportunities to take on additional responsibility with autonomy. You want to feel like you are an important member of, and making a meaningful and valued contribution to, a team that is consistently outperforming its competitors. You are ambitious, enjoy success, and are ready to perform at your own high standard.

You will have:

  • Completed your law degree and achieved excellent academic results;
  • Achieved strong results in banking & finance law with a genuine passion for this subject matter;
  • Private practice experience in finance (desirable);
  • An ability to communicate, both in writing and orally, clearly and concisely;
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent attention to detail;
  • An ability to understand and identify the key issues in a legal matter;
  • Good judgement and common sense;
  • The ability to work both independently and as part of a team; and
  • A passion for a career in commercial law.
