The Instrument Technician is a vital role that encompasses the installation, commissioning, and servicing of turbine control systems. This includes upgrades and retrofits to ensure optimal equipment performance.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform complex tasks such as installation, commissioning, and service of turbine control systems.
- Diagnose and resolve issues in turbine controls, instrumentation, and related systems to ensure optimal equipment performance.
- Configure and test instruments, terminate cables, and perform hot loop testing.
- Read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and P&IDs to understand system requirements.
- Identify and resolve faults in HV/LV systems, PLCs, SCADA, and DCS.
- Manage all phases of service projects from pre-planning to handover to customers.
- Collaborate with customers and project managers to ensure timely and high-quality project delivery.
- Maintain accurate records of service activities, including reports and project documentation.
- Valid Electrical License (essential)
- Cert IV/Cert III Instrumentation or equivalent experience in pneumatic and digital pressure control, instrument calibration, and gas quality measurement systems viewed favorably.
- Experience with different Control systems & Programmable Logic Controllers.
- Proven experience in commissioning electrical and instrumentation systems in mining or heavy industry.
- Strong understanding of HV/LV systems, control systems, and calibration processes.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and documentation.
- Knowledge of Australian standards, including AS/NZS 3000 and AS 2067.
- Physical fitness and ability to work in challenging site conditions.
