Employing a Youth Worker is a unique opportunity to support the education and social development of young people in a supported learning environment.

About the Role

The primary goal of this position is to foster engagement in learning among young individuals through collaborative efforts with teachers, other youth workers, and school leaders.

This role demands a comprehensive understanding of youth work theories and practices, as well as hands-on experience in applying such knowledge.

  • Demonstrated skills and knowledge in youth/social work/wellbeing theory, process frameworks and ethics
  • Experience running activities with young people
  • Ability to work within the practice frameworks of Flexible Schools expressed through Operation by Principles and Common Ground
  • Ability to analyze complex situations and respond with appropriate strategies
About You

Ideal candidates will possess:

  • Experience working with youth or in a school setting, especially in classrooms
  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively in a challenging and unpredictable environment
  • Demonstrated capacity to work effectively and collaboratively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
  • Interest and experience in working with young people with a range of learning needs
  • Establish and maintain professional relationships with all stakeholders
  • Effective written and oral communication
  • Good time management and planning skills
  • Be open and responsive to diverse cultures, backgrounds, experiences, perspectives, values and beliefs
