Facilities Maintenance Officer

This is a challenging opportunity for a Facilities Maintenance Officer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of school buildings and grounds.
- Maintenance and Repairs: You will be responsible for performing routine maintenance tasks, including general plumbing, electrical work, carpentry, painting, cleaning, and repairs to furniture and building fabric.
- Heating Supervision: You will oversee the operation of heating equipment, report faults to management, check fuel supplies regularly, and turn on/off heating as directed by senior staff.
- Grounds Maintenance: You will maintain lawns, gardens, drains, paved areas, and remove litter. You may also assist contractors when requested.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of maintenance practices, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertake routine maintenance tasks as assigned by management
- Provide maintenance and repair services for school facilities
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities
- Collaborate with other departments to ensure effective facility management
Requirements:
- 3 years' experience in a maintenance role
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Valid driver's license an asset
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical labor as required
Working Conditions:
- Work indoors and outdoors in various weather conditions
- Exposure to noise, dust, and other environmental hazards
- Must be able to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as required
