Pastoral Care Specialist Role Overview

  • The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering pastoral care services to clients and their families, ensuring their spiritual needs are met and supported.

Key Responsibilities:

Delivering Spiritual Support: Provide one-to-one pastoral care to clients and facilitate pastoral visits from ministers of various faith groups.

  • Develop and implement personalized pastoral care plans that cater to the unique needs and preferences of each client.
  • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure continuity of spiritual care as clients move into facilities or hospitals.

Facilitating Pastoral Activities: Organize and lead group-based activities, such as spiritual celebrations and moments of reflection, tailored to diverse backgrounds and needs.

  • Prepare prayers and reflections that respect and acknowledge the values, customs, and spiritual beliefs of residents and clients.

Supporting Teams and Clients: Work closely with teams and family members to access support services for bereavement and provide guidance on navigating the healthcare system.

Required Qualifications and Skills:

  • Cert IV or Diploma in Pastoral Care, Counselling, Chaplaincy, or similar qualifications in theology or spirituality.
  • Strong personal spirituality lived out in a Christian-based community.
  • Commitment to supporting the pastoral/spiritual care needs of the sick and elderly and their family members.
  • Previous experience working within aged care or vulnerable community settings.
