**Job Title:** Underwriting Manager NSW

 

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Underwriting Manager to join our team in NSW. As a key member of our underwriting team, you will be responsible for managing and servicing a renewal book and producing new business in accordance with business unit goals.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Underwrite, manage and service a renewal book and produce new business in accordance with business unit goals
  • Develop and manage underwriting strategies for both renewals and targets within your portfolio of accounts
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment in the analysis and evaluation of risk
  • Negotiate with producers within the limits of delegated authority and in accordance with established underwriting standards
  • Build and enhance relationships with brokers and clients and identify and establish new distribution relationships
  • Maintain expertise with the products, services, priorities and target markets
  • Promote the company's expertise by participating in industry conferences and events
  • Support the business planning and forecasting process

 

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred and equivalent experience in the relevant class of business
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in the analysis and evaluation of risk
  • Negotiation and sales skills to plan, structure and conduct negotiations with brokers and/or clients
  • Analytical skills to visualize, gather information, articulate, analyze and solve complex problems
  • Interpersonal savvy to build excellent interpersonal relationships with brokers, clients & colleagues
  • Strategy and planning skills to make underwriting decisions to fulfill business strategic plan and deliver results
  • Industry knowledge to understand the insurance industry and specific product portfolios
