The Australian Government Department of Home Affairs is seeking a highly skilled and experienced professional to fill the position of Assistant Director, Culture and Retention. This role is a critical part of the National Emergency Management Agency's (NEMA) efforts to enhance the culture and retention of its staff.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement organisational culture enhancement and retention initiatives to improve the overall work environment and employee satisfaction.
  • Develop branch recruitment strategies to attract and retain top talent in the field of emergency management.
  • Identify and implement wellbeing and WHS strategies and practices in conjunction with NEMA's Wellbeing and Conditions team to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.
  • Identify and implement mental health support initiatives to promote employee well-being and resilience.
  • Improve branch communications to ensure effective information sharing and collaboration among team members.
  • Design development pathways for branch team members to enhance their skills and career progression.
Requirements
  • A positive mindset and a strong commitment to enhancing the culture and retention of NEMA's staff.
  • Highly-developed oral and written communication skills, including the ability to liaise confidently with stakeholders.
  • A demonstrated history of drive, vision, and change management, with the ability to lead and motivate a team.
  • The ability to hold, or gain, an NV1 security clearance and satisfy AFP building access requirements.
