Aircraft Maintenance Engineering Roles

As an aircraft maintenance engineer, you play a critical role in ensuring the airworthiness of aircraft. Your responsibility includes conducting scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, troubleshooting faults, repairing and modifying aircraft systems.

To excel in this position, you will require strong technical understanding of aircraft systems and defense maintenance standards. A Certificate IV in Aeroskills is essential, along with proven experience in aircraft maintenance within a defense environment.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication skills, be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications, and hold a baseline defense security clearance.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct scheduled and unscheduled maintenance on Defence aircraft
  • Undertake troubleshooting, fault finding, repairs, and modifications in line with approved procedures and standards
  • Assist in managing technical investigations, documentation, and reporting of maintenance activities and outcomes
  • Engage in configuration management and technical change management tasks, ensuring Defence compliance and operational readiness
  • Liaise with engineering teams, Defence stakeholders, and operational staff to support aircraft maintenance objectives
Essential Skills and Qualifications:
  • Certificate IV in Aeroskills (Avionics, Mechanical, or Structures)
  • Proven experience in aircraft maintenance within a Defence environment (rotary-wing or fixed-wing platforms)
  • Strong technical understanding of aircraft systems and Defence maintenance standards
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from aircraft engineering drawings and specifications
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly document maintenance outcomes
Eligibility Requirements:
  • Australian Citizenship: Essential due to Defence requirements
  • Security Clearance: Must hold, at minimum, a BASELINE Defence security clearance
