Procurement Specialist Role Overview

The Procurement Specialist role is a critical position within an organization, responsible for leading the planning, tendering, and contract formation for complex procurements. This involves developing and reviewing strategic contracting correspondence, providing guidance on technical and commercial risk principles, and designing commercial risk mitigation strategies.

Key Responsibilities of the Procurement Specialist include:

  • Leading procurement planning, tendering, and contract formation for highly complex procurements.
  • Developing and reviewing strategic contracting correspondence.
  • Providing guidance and mentoring on technical and commercial risk principles.
  • Designing and implementing commercial risk mitigation strategies.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • A proven track record of developing complex Request for Tenders (RFTs) in Defence acquisition, particularly in communication systems.
  • Expertise in complex negotiations.
  • Strong knowledge of legislation, procurement policies, processes, and procedures.
  • An understanding of Defence capability sustainment and Offer Definition & Improvement Activities.
  • Familiarity with technical/commercial risk and performance management frameworks.
