Environmental Compliance Specialist

We are seeking an Environmental Compliance Specialist to oversee and manage compliance, governance, and operational activities related to waste management and environmental practices. This critical role is essential to the delivery of Council's sustainability goals and plays a key part in enhancing operational efficiency, risk management, and community well-being.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and Implement Compliance Programs: Develop and implement compliance policies, procedures, and governance programs for waste and environmental operations.
- Operational Oversight: Oversee day-to-day operational activities to ensure effective management of Council assets and compliance with safety practices.
- Contractor Supervision: Supervise contractors and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with OH&S regulations, risk management protocols, and Council policies.
- Risk Management: Proactively identify and manage risks associated with waste and environmental operations, ensuring public safety and compliance.
- Compliance Monitoring: Monitor and report on compliance programs and provide solutions to ensure the organisation meets its strategic and operational objectives.
- Expert Advice: Provide expert advice and guidance on compliance issues to both internal and external stakeholders.
- Reporting: Prepare and deliver reports, presentations, and updates to senior management and relevant stakeholders.
- Mandatory Qualifications: Degree or Diploma in Waste Management, Environmental Science, Applied or Biological Sciences, Risk Management, Compliance, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Essential Skills: Strong knowledge of waste management principles and environmental legislation. Proven ability to research, interpret, and apply legislation, standards, and policies.
- Valid Checks: Valid National Police Check, Working with Children Check, and Driver's Licence.

We offer a competitive salary package, including a base salary of $90,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience and qualifications.
