About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Compliance Specialist to oversee and manage compliance, governance, and operational activities related to waste management and environmental practices. The successful candidate will ensure adherence to legislation, safety standards, and Council policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement compliance policies, procedures, and governance programs for waste and environmental operations.">
  • Oversee day-to-day operational activities to ensure effective management of Council assets and compliance with safety practices.">
  • Supervise contractors and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with OH&S regulations, risk management protocols, and Council policies.">
  • Proactively identify and manage risks associated with waste and environmental operations, ensuring public safety and compliance.">
  • Monitor and report on compliance programs and provide solutions to ensure the organisation meets its strategic and operational objectives.">
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on compliance issues to both internal and external stakeholders.">
  • Prepare and deliver reports, presentations, and updates to senior management and relevant stakeholders.">
  • Ensure legislative obligations and Council governance standards are met across all waste and environmental activities.">

Requirements:

The ideal candidate will have a Degree or Diploma in Waste Management, Environmental Science, Applied or Biological Sciences, Risk Management, Compliance, or a related field. They should have strong knowledge of waste management principles and environmental legislation, as well as proven ability to research, interpret, and apply legislation, standards, and policies.

Salary Estimate: $80,000 - $110,000 per annum, depending on experience.
