Job Overview

As a senior leader, you will be responsible for setting and delivering strategic plans for animal disease surveillance activities. You will lead the reporting and program delivery to inform stakeholders and government, while building influential relationships across the industry.

The ideal candidate will have strong technical expertise and innovative solutions, with excellent communication skills to translate complex science into clear insights for diverse audiences.

You will also play a critical role in Australia's emergency animal disease response, including out-of-hours leadership when required.

Required Skills and Qualifications

The following qualifications and experience are required for this role:

  • Tertiary qualification in Veterinary Science and current Australian Veterinary registration.
  • Senior operational and strategic experience in livestock health and animal disease surveillance, programs and policy.
  • Experience in a similar role with demonstrated ability to create collaborative and engaged teams that deliver results within timeframes and budgets.
  • Knowledge of Australia's emergency preparedness and response arrangements.
  • Extensive project management skills including financial and budget management.
