Health and Safety Specialist

We are seeking a proactive and energetic Health and Safety Specialist to support our state-of-the-art facility in Geelong. As part of a national team, you will work closely with frontline teams to deliver strong alignment between operational risks and health and safety controls.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with operational leaders on risk management initiatives
  • Develop the health and safety capacity of operational teams by providing specialist advice, support, and coaching
  • Understand and manage risk profiles, verify critical control implementation, and identify and coordinate risk reduction, improvement, and assurance activities
  • Support the roll-out and implementation of our health and safety strategy, including the HSEQ Management System & National Programs
  • Facilitate and manage incident response and subsequent analysis and learnings
  • Support operations in preparing for and responding to HSE regulatory compliance inspections, audits, statutory reports, and prescribed incident notifications
  • Maintain oversight of HSE risk registers and facilitate operational risk assessment/SWMS reviews
  • Review and validate the management of contractors in line with our assurance program
Requirements
  • A positive and proactive approach, with a willingness and commitment to partnering with operational teams
  • Prior experience in a hands-on, operational role is highly regarded
  • A curious mind with a willingness to embrace new ideas and approaches
  • Proven experience in a similar role within a high-risk environment
  • Proven experience with implementing successful organizational change within complex environments
  • Knowledge of WHS regulations, systems, processes, and Information Systems is beneficial but not essential
  • Cert IV or Diploma in Work Health & Safety is beneficial but not essential
  • Superior interpersonal skills, emotional intelligence, and communication skills with a natural ability to build solid relationships and influence outcomes
