Key Highlights of the Position

We are seeking an accomplished Secondary Design Engineer to lead our team in delivering innovative solutions for high voltage power systems.

About the Role

The successful candidate will be responsible for providing expert design services, developing specifications, and collaborating with various disciplines to ensure seamless project execution.

  • Develop detailed designs for EHV/HV Secondary Systems Strategic Planning and Conceptual Design, including Protection, SCADA, Comms, Data Networks etc.
  • Provide technical support for specialist engineering areas such as Protection Detailed Design, Primary Plant and Secondary Systems Equipment Specification and Procurement, Protection & Control Detail Schematics and Integration, Grid Metering, Power Quality and High Speed Monitoring Installations, Load flow, Fault level and dynamic studies and analysis, Engineering Network/Data Network Architecture and Configuration, Control System Detailed Design and Configuration, Communication Systems design, General AC & DC System Specification and Distribution Design, and Power Generation system integration.
  • Review and verify design work for accuracy and adequacy.
  • Collaborate with Business Development, Tendering and Operations teams as required.
  • Assist with site commissioning activities.
About You

We are looking for a skilled professional with:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • At least 3 years' experience in design, integration, coordination, installation, and commissioning of electrical systems and services for high voltage power systems.
  • In-depth understanding and knowledge of secondary system design from concept development through to detailed design, preferably in a Design-for-Construction environment or utility-based engineering consultancy experience.
  • Strong computer skills and industry experience in relevant Power System Protection and Automation software packages/equipment suppliers/products.
  • A commitment to safety.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and interpersonal skills.
