Electrical Design Engineer Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced electrical design engineer to lead the electrical design and delivery of renewable power projects across Australia.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the electrical design process for renewable power plants, ensuring compliance with national standards and regulations.
  • Develop technical specifications for high-voltage, medium-voltage, and low-voltage systems.
  • Review and approve technical documents from external design contractors and consultants.
  • Manage and supervise third-party engineers or external design services.
  • Select optimal equipment for site-specific requirements and coordinate with suppliers/manufacturers and contractors.
  • Attend design review meetings with design contractors, suppliers, and consultants.
  • Provide engineering support for project CAPEX, OPEX, and time scheduling.
  • Approve and supervise necessary tests related to electrical equipment.
  • Contribute to lessons-learned reviews and identify improvements in existing products, procedures, and processes.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree qualifications in Electrical Engineering.
  • 5+ years of experience in design and construction of power plants and substations.
  • Experience working on multiple projects across Australia involving large-scale renewable energy generation.
  • Strong knowledge of protection, earthing, metering, and control systems for high-voltage substations.
  • Able to interface electrical design with transmission network service providers.
  • Familiarity with National Electricity Rules, AS standards, IEC Engineering Standards, IEEE and ANSI Engineering Standards.
