Join Our Team as a Geomicrobiology Research Leader

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated individual to lead our geomicrobiology research program. The successful candidate will have a strong background in microbiology, geobiology, and sedimentary inorganic geochemistry.

About the Role:
  • This is an exciting opportunity for a talented researcher to join our team and contribute to cutting-edge research in geomicrobiology.
  • The successful candidate will be responsible for leading research projects, publishing high-quality papers, and contributing to teaching and supervision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead research projects in geomicrobiology, collaborating with researchers across Curtin University and other institutions.
  • Publish high-quality research papers in international peer-reviewed journals.
  • Contribute to teaching and supervision, including developing practicals, conducting student field trips, and assessing student work.
  • Develop internal and external collaborative projects with industry, academia, and government organizations.
  • Contribute to the leadership of Curtin's Western Australia Organic and Isotope Geochemistry Centre (WA-OIGC) and the School of Earth and Planetary Sciences.
  • Engage in community outreach and science communication.

Selection Criteria:

  • A doctoral qualification in microbiology/geobiology and sedimentary inorganic geochemistry.
  • Demonstrated record of PhD and undergraduate scholar supervision.
  • An established record of research outputs in international peer-reviewed journals.
  • An established record of grant success relative to opportunity.
  • An established record of industry engagement.
  • A demonstrated ability to attract industry funding.
  • A demonstrated high level of communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to the development of collegial and supportive working environment.
