Job Opportunity: Analytical Chemist

Are you a motivated and independent individual with expertise in biomarkers, biomolecules, geomicrobiology, and early life? We are seeking an Early Career Researcher to join our team at the WA-Organic and Isotope Geochemistry Centre (WA-OIGC) and School of Earth and Planetary Sciences (EPS) at Curtin University.

As a researcher in this role, you will conduct world-class research using techniques such as GC-MS, LC-MS, and compound-specific isotope analyses. You will also collaborate with researchers and students within WA-OIGC and EPS, as well as across schools.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct analytical chemistry and biomarker analysis using advanced techniques.
  • Collaborate with researchers and students to advance knowledge in biomarkers and biomolecules.
  • Develop and maintain expertise in plant/microbial processes and early life.

Selection Criteria:

  • Strong analytical chemistry skills with experience in LC-MS and/or GC X GCTOFMS or site-specific isotopes.
  • A doctoral qualification in organic geochemistry or a related field.
  • Demonstrated record of PhD and undergraduate scholar supervision.
  • Established record of research outputs in international peer-reviewed journals.
  • Established record of grant success relative to opportunity.
  • Demonstrated ability to attract funding.
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills with a commitment to developing a collegial and supportive working environment.
