Electoral Service Role

The role of the Service Officer is a key position within our electoral system, responsible for maintaining an impartial and independent electoral process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintaining accurate records of eligible voters and overseeing staff members in designated offices.
  • Providing public-facing services as required, including processing enrolments and data entry work.
  • Contributing to the planning and execution of election activities and projects.
  • Offering support to regional offices in their operations.

Election Event Delivery

During the election period, local workforce responsibilities increase. The Service Officer will be required to supervise and train temporary election workers, contribute to operational delivery plans for their division, and ensure smooth event operations at outposted centres under the direction of a Divisional Returning Officer.

Additional Requirements

  • Intrastate travel will be necessary, including working from one of our elections outposted centres or metropolitan office for a period of 4-6 weeks during electoral events and professional development as required.
  • Additional hours and weekend work are also required during electoral events.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicants must be Australian citizens.
  • AEC employees are required to obtain and maintain a character clearance and security clearance required for this role.
