As a Clinical Nurse Consultant - Head and Neck Cancer, you will be part of a dedicated team that provides comprehensive care to patients with head and neck cancer and their families.
About the Role
This is a clinical leadership role that involves the development, implementation, and coordination of evidence-based best practices and patient flow systems throughout the continuum of care. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide complex management and support to patients with head and neck cancer, from referral to surveillance.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitate the development of systems and processes to support the planning and coordination of treatment, education, and support needs for patients and their families.
- Provide complex management and support to H&N patients from referral to surveillance.
- Support and counsel patients, staff, and external agencies for assessment, care, treatment, and follow-up for head and neck patients.
- Link patients with existing support networks as required.
- Review H&N referrals and triage according to urgency in conjunction with the outpatients clinic coordinator.
- Manage the H&N multidisciplinary meetings, H&N database, and SMICS database.
- Assist in the collection of information for the H&N audit.
Requirements
- Senior Nurse with extensive experience in caring for patients undergoing Head & Neck Surgery.
- Experience in working with patients and their families with a newly diagnosed cancer.
- Expert clinical acumen in complex patient care.
- Highly developed written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently in an organized fashion to meet the clinical demands of patients and families.
- Masters Degree in Nursing or working towards.
- Current valid drivers license.
