About the Role
The State Government of Victoria, Australia is seeking a highly skilled Senior Adviser - Environmental Compliance to join our team at the Department of Justice and Community Safety. As a key member of our Corporate Services and Infrastructure group, you will play a critical role in ensuring the department's compliance with environmental legislation and regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and manage the implementation and monitoring of processes to ensure the department's environmental compliance with relevant legislation and regulations.
- Provide advice and support to internal stakeholders on environmental compliance and sustainability initiatives.
- Manage the department's environmental compliance register and ensure it meets the requirements of the Environmental Management System (EMS) and the Environment Protection Act 2017.
- Oversee the management and remediation of contaminated land and waters on departmental land.
- Identify, analyze, and advise on environmental risks associated with department operations and develop strategies to mitigate them.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have a strong working knowledge of environmental compliance and a proven understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures. You will also have a tertiary qualification in Environmental Science/Engineering, Natural Resource Management, or a related field, and/or proven experience in environmental compliance or relevant environmental experience.
